Filmmaker Sam Pollard’s MLK/FBI reminds us that Martin Luther King Jr.’s legacy is more than what we see in the history books. In an interview with Daniel Schindel for Hyperallergic, Pollard discusses the source materials that inspired his latest project which examines how the FBI surveilled Martin Luther King Jr. and attempted to discredit his character.

We should be reminded that this road we went down in the ’60s is one we’re constantly repeating. We’ve always lived in a complicated world. The world is even more complicated now because of what we’ve gone through in the last four years. - Sam Pollard
