Justin Kamp's review for Hyperallergic delves into Abbey William’s recent show “Vignette” at Sargent's Daughters. Running until early April, the exhibition centralized Black affective space, presenting art where Blackness oozed with slick spillage beyond the frame of eurocentric constraints. Across a series of works that incorporate video, multimedia collage, and works on paper, Williams explored how Black affective space persists within and outside the constricted frame of the white gaze and rebukes the limits of white expectations.
